AhlulBayt News Agency: Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, in a meeting with his Brazilian counterpart, condemned recent Israeli-American attacks on Iran as serious violations of international law and direct blows to diplomacy.
Currently attending the 17th BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Araghchi held talks with Brazil’s Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira to discuss bilateral and global issues.
According to a statement by Iran’s Foreign Ministry, Araghchi thanked Brazil for hosting the summit and emphasized BRICS’ important role in promoting multilateralism and defending international law. He also highlighted the need to deepen cooperation between Tehran and Brasília on both bilateral and international platforms.
Araghchi praised Brazil’s clear and principled stance against the recent military actions by Israel and the US. He described these attacks as violations of the UN Charter and a dangerous assault on diplomacy and the global non-proliferation framework, threatening peace and stability in the region.
He warned that Israeli aggression continues due to impunity and unconditional backing by the US and certain European countries, stressing that all states carry a legal and moral obligation to stop such crimes and destabilizing acts.
Brazil’s foreign minister reiterated his country’s firm opposition to military aggression against Iran’s territorial integrity, especially strikes on its nuclear facilities, and emphasized the UN Security Council’s duty to maintain global peace.
The two ministers reviewed and praised their countries’ expanding trade and economic relations and agreed to convene a joint economic commission in the near future to advance mutual cooperation.
